3. Presentation of the Award Medal

3.1. The Executive Board draws up a list of possible candidates for the King Albert Medal and presents its proposals to the Board of Trustees. It may consult with Advisors. The Board of Trustees decides on the number of Awards and to whom the Medals and Certificates should be presented. Records must be kept of the candidates selected as well as the reasons for their selection. The nominations are not based on any particular period; past achievements may also be honoured.
3.2. The selection of nominees should include people with different spheres of knowledge and of different nationalities and sex. Candidates must indicate in writing that they are prepared to accept the Award.
3.3. If a member of the Board of Trustees wishes, the choice can be made by secret vote. On each proposal there should be a separate vote.
3.4. A majority of two-thirds of the votes of the members of the Board of Trustees is required for each Award. The Chairman carries a double vote.
3.5. The Awards should be presented in an appropriately dignified fashion.
3.6. After each presentation of King Albert Medals, the names and addresses of the recipients, as well as the reasons for their selection should be made known to the Belgian Royal Cabinet for the attention of His Majesty the King of Belgium.
